The Altitude Problem.
Altura Performance was created by a Rocky Mountain endurance race director, Dan Mosko, to help athletes perform better during his events.
The race, Elevation Everest, takes place between 9,100 and 10,600 feet and draws athletes from all over the world to compete in a “hike up, gondola down, repeat” format. These athletes compete solo or on relay teams to climb the vertical gain of Mt. Everest. With many of these athletes traveling from sea level, the most frequent email received asked one simple question:
“How do I get ready for altitude?”
With a 56% finishing rate, it was clear that altitude was impacting athletes ability to finish, regardless if they traveled from Florida or lived in Colorado. While this problem started with Dan’s athlete community, altitude affects 30 million Americans each year ranging from people who enjoy active lifestyles in the mountains to elite level athletes pushing the limits of human performance. This problem deserved a dedicated solution that didn’t rely on pharmaceuticals.
After years of research, Dan learned there were herbal ingredients that had been used by the Sherpa community for centuries to combat the effects of altitude in some of the most punishing high altitude environments on the planet. But the physiological systems that are impacted by altitude are broad and deserve unique support, not just a single, one-size fits all product.
Through rigorous research and partnering with medical doctors and an accredited R&D laboratory, Dan created the most comprehensive, phase-specific formulas available to help mountain-goers acclimatize, perform and recover above 5000 ft. Response from the athlete community has been overwhelming, as Altura Performance is changing how people enjoy their time in the mountains. Customers are feeling better, going faster and farther, and waking up with less soreness than ever before.
